The Tragedy of Chernobyl
Chernobyl is clearly the largest man-made nuclear catastrophe. The living creatures in the area were exposed to 90 times more radioactivity than in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This happened in the 26th of April, 1986, when the 4th unit of the nuclear power plant exploded. The reactor was destroyed and a lot of radioactive material got released into the environment. The pictures show how everything seems to have burnt with glasses broken everywhere and buildings damaged as well.
The damage was not just from the explosion. Its effect can still be still as mutation. In the pictures you will see how everything has been destroyed. A vegetable vendor is checking for radioactivity before selling the vegetables in one of the pictures. A just born animal has a disfigured faced, probably caused due to the radioactive fall out. Being one of the largest accidents of its kind in world history, the damage was extensive and the pictures will show you exactly how powerful it was.
